Dame Barbara Windsor
At the age of 83, Dame Barbara Windsor died on December 11th. She was best known for playing Peggy Mitchell in the Carry On film series and the BBC’s East Enders. Windsor, a camp style icon and outspoken supporter of the LGBT+ community, died of Alzheimer’s disease. Dame Barbara had “campaigned for the lonely and vulnerable — and cheered the world up with her own British brand of harmless sauciness and innocent scandal,” said Boris Johnson, the UK Prime Minister, upon hearing of her death.
Jessica Campbell
Jessica Campbell, who played the lead in the film and later worked as a physician, died on Dec. 29 at the age of 38 of unknown causes. Campbell is best known for her role as Tammy Metzler in the 1999 dark comedy Tammy Metzler, in which she co-starred with Reese Witherspoon and Matthew Broderick and received a nomination for Best Debut Performance.
