Roberta Running
Roberta Louise “Bobbi” Gibb was born on November 2, 1942, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and was the first woman to run the entire Boston Marathon and was recognized by the Boston Athletic Association as the pre-sanctioned era women’s winner in 1966 to 1968. Her run in 1966 challenged pervasive misconceptions and prejudices about women’s athletic capabilities.
