Nearly Fatal Crash
The 2006 Dog of the Year was Honey, and she accomplished her heroic deed by saving her owner Michael Bosch who had been trapped under an upside down SUV that crashed into the ravine. Michael used all his strength to free the 5-month-old Honey with the hopes that she would call someone to rescue him. Honey was able to do so! The English Cocker Spaniel found someone about a half mile away and brought this man to the accident site. This man immediately called a rescue unit that would help them save Michael.
Amazing Service Dog
A former soldier was unfortunately stuck in the mud after his wheelchair dug deep into it, thus making it hard for him to move. Luckily, Gareth Jones’ service dog was ready to help him. Jones threw a rope toward the 4-year-old golden retriever. This dog immediately pulled him out of the mud. Jones praised his dog for his heroic deed. “He didn’t let go until I was clear. He knew exactly what he was doing.”
