The White House hosts the Iftar dinner every year. It’s an annual reception held at the White House and is hosted by the POTUS and First Lady to celebrate the month of Ramadan. This tradition began when Hilary Clinton hosted a Ramadan Eid celebration dinner back in 1996.

This sweet tradition is meant to “soften the image” of the president and his family. According to CNN, having a pet does exactly that. Former presidents haven’t been fazed by this at all, in fact, they’ve had every type of pet you can imagine, from ponies to raccoons.
