Jay-Z I yet another artist who declined the opportunity to perform at the Super Bowl. In 2017, he turned down an offer to appear at Super Bowl LII. According to The Sun, “He really has no plans to do the half-time show.” Perhaps he preferred to watch the show instead of performing during it!

1972: Honoring Louis Armstrong

Half-time shows might not be as big in the ‘70s as they are now, although there were still a couple of unforgettable moments. One such occasion was Ella Fitzgerald and Al Hirt’s tribute to the legendary Louis Armstrong. Carol Channing and the U.S. Marine Corps Drill Team performed alongside them for “Mack the Knife”. It was also historic because it was the first time an African-American woman performed during the Super Bowl halftime.
