Announcement Made Without Consideration

Even though it was 2005, Peggy was still clueless as to where Billie had disappeared to, or even whether he was still alive. However, word had spread about Peggy’s predicament, prompting the local congressman, Rep. Thornberry, to step in and make a public declaration regarding the scenario in question. Unfortunately, Rep. Thornberry was completely oblivious to what he was talking about at the time. When asked about Billie in an interview, Rep. Thornberry made the reckless assertion that she was a troop, not a person, and continued to make inaccurate statements about what was happening. The team that backed Thornberry provided him with misleading information that was evidently not thoroughly investigated. The congressman was forced to make another announcement, this time a public apology to Peggy for his role in distributing misleading information to the public.

Piecing it Together

Alton Harvey, like Peggy, was interested in finding out what had happened to his parents and siblings. The attempt to bring closure was more than simply a desperate attempt; it was an investigation into a mystery that needed to be answered. To Peggy, Alton explained that it was unusual for Billie to just up and marry and disappear like that. He confessed that he, too, suspected something had happened to Billie, and he was determined to find out what it was. It was during Billie’s extended absence that he decided to request Billie’s service records from the government. It was this step that would eventually throw light on his disappearance and provide the closure that Peggy and Billie’s family had been waiting for.
