It is not an excuse for how “lunch shaming” can lead students to completely miss meals, which in turn reduces their academic success as well as makes them more likely to repeat a degree or need guidance on mental health.

Desert Cove Elementary School eventually released a message that says, “It was never the intention of administration and staff to embarrass any student by using the stamp.” They have been very apologetic about all of it.
