A Race Against Time
As they ran through the large departure lounge, they could hear the announcement, “Final call for flight JL7 to Narita (Tokyo)” They could see their gate in the distance; it was within striking distance. They arrived just in time to be the plane’s final two passengers. A bit of good fortune. They boarded the plane and prepared for the direct 13-hour flight to Japan. They were en route to pick up their youngster.

Even though they had been informed that the flight would last 13 hours, it felt much longer. The young couple anxiously awaited the plane’s landing. They sat there knowing they had no options during the journey. Once they landed in Japan, events would begin to transpire. Gianni attempted to watch the in-flight television but was unable to focus. Rose sat by the window, a little teary-eyed. “Ladies and gentlemen, we are about to begin our descent, we will be at Narita Airport in 20 minutes” Rose’s heart sank.
