The Queen May Still Be Alive
Suspicions have been circulating in the British press that when the Queen gets older, she can transfer the throne to her son, who’s completely equipped to carry on all the monarchy’s duties whilst she is still living. It will be considered a ‘regency.’ But there are also factors Queen Elizabeth would never give up the throne.
Prince Charles Will Become Regent If The Queen Is Incapacitated
Although a regency with Prince Charles as heir will be established if the Queen can not actually behave as queen, such as serious mental or body disorder. According to the Constitution Unit of the University of London’s (UCL) School of Public Policy, medical evidence is required. Three people out of the following have to agree to declare the sovereign is incapacitated: the Queen’s consort (her husband, Prince Philip), the Lord Chancellor, the Speaker of the House of Commons, the Lord Chief Justice, and the Master of the Rolls.
