His movement was restricted, and Steve had to spend a year in and out of both nursing homes and hospitals. His first year was maybe the most difficult. He could not do anything by himself.

It must have been challenging to go from being an active person to immobile all of sudden. Being a very active and independent person, often at times, Steve felt as though his freedom was taken away from as he was no longer self-sufficient.
