Smart ForTwo
In the first year of owning a Smart ForTwo vehicle, the value of the car drops like a lead weight. This is probably because, even though it gets advertised so much for being an environmental car, the benefits of driving this vehicle ends there. The gas consumption is impressively low. However, the inside is cramped and very small, the transmission is two speed, which is very unpleasant to a lot of drivers and even though it is advocated to be safe for its small size, a lot of car buyers prefer a middle-sized vehicle with a much higher safety rating. In only 1 year after the owner paid for the Smart ForTwo car, it is worth around 36 percent less or around $14k less.

Hyundai Genesis
The next car on our list is the Hyundai Genesis. This car depreciates the most and fastest. The Genesis is competing with other luxury vehicles. However, it is lacking the brand appeal of a recognized luxury car. The price of this car is close to Lexus or Mercedes models. However, it is losing 38% of its retail value within its first year. This is a disadvantage if you’re buying it new. However, it could be deemed as a benefit if bought used. Car buyers who want luxury can buy a Genesis which is just a year old for $16,000 less than its original price at $52k (brand new).
