During her time in the spotlight, rumors circulated that Nadya was abusing her children. It made sense because being a single mother of 14 children must be difficult, and it must take a lot of effort to meet all of the children’s needs. Child Protective Services was even called in to investigate the situation. They investigated whether it was true that Nadya was neglecting her children. Still, when they visited her home, they found no evidence of neglect and concluded that the rumors were false – they even claimed that her home was suitable for children.

Sadly, despite what Child Protective Services said, another person with actual power over Nadya’s life strongly disagreed that her home was suitable for her children. Her landlord didn’t like the idea and told Nadya that she had broken her lease terms. Furthermore, he informed the press about Nadya’s situation before evicting her and her 14 children. Nadya wanted to be a good mother to her children, but they were on the verge of becoming homeless, so she took drastic measures.
