A Caricature

Nadya reflected that she was selfish and immature in the past and in effect became a caricature. She said, “I never wanted the attention,” but the staff violated her privacy and secretly alerted the press. She explained, “I have PTSD from all the reporters coming in over the years. I would take whatever I could back in the days, and I would let them in. I was spiralling down a dark hole. I was doing what I was told to do and saying what I was told to say.” However, she had this realization: “When you’re pretending to be something you’re not, you end up falling on your face.”

After experiencing a darker period in her life, she thankfully found the strength to turn away from the downward spiral, both emotionally and physically. Nadya told the reporter, “Once I finally ran away from all of the pretending, I was able to be me.” However, Nadya still had to put in the work to heal from the physical damage that the pregnancy caused, because she said, “Physically at least, that “me” has been irrevocably transformed.“ A major side effect of her last pregnancy was her back getting broken, but instead of caving in to the pressure, Nadya began running half-marathons instead and even encouraged her entire family to do the activity with her.
