Completed in the year 1672, the warship Kronan went on to become the Swedish naval fleet’s crown jewel. Unfortunately, it sank just four years later, taking the lives of nearly all its 800 crew members. As it disappeared beneath the waves, the Kronan also disappeared from history until centuries later.
