The gym said that covered t-shirts are expected and part of the dress code for sanitary reasons. While the dress code at the front of the gym says “Athletic wear must be worn.” However, the employees discussed her coverage and didn’t mention a thing about sanitization.

Some comments on Sarah’s post said the same thing – that their own college gyms required students to wear full shirts that weren’t cut-off or cropped. This was to minimize skin contact with machines and equipment there.
