We Were Soldiers (2002)
The Battle of Ia Drang, a three-day Vietnam War conflict, was depicted in We Were Soldiers. Military methods such as shooting numerous rounds of ammo into a bush and flushing out opponents were included in the film. The film was based on a book authored by a retired US Army General named Hal Moore, according to the filmmaker. The retired general reportedly bemoaned the fact that “every freaking Hollywood movie got it wrong.” This prompted director Randall Wallace to work extra hard to make sure everything was perfect! Moore finally admitted that it was a close call.

Black Hawk Down (2001)
Black Hawk Down was based on a non-fiction book about a journalist who was in Somalia during the Battle of Mogadishu. Despite the fact that many Hollywood war pictures stylize these tasks, it opted for a raw, stripped-down approach. It was fascinating to watch how the video depicted the helicopter crash as well as the strategies employed by American soldiers when under fire. Despite the fact that the film avoided delving deeper into the story and its politics, it skillfully paid honor to all of the soldiers who participated in this pivotal fight.
