Jocelyn gave it some thought and concluded that Jasper wanted the treatment to be stopped. If they hadn’t spoken to him first, they wouldn’t have asked her permission. She knew she had to consent if that’s what he wanted. She gave the doctor permission to halt the treatments when they spoke on the phone. She now had to accept her fate.

As soon as she could, Jocelyn arrived at the hospital. When she arrived, they had already begun to make him as comfortable as possible. As soon as she could, Jocelyn took a seat, took hold of Jasper’s hand, and made the difficult decision that she would never leave his side.
