Felix Kjellberg
YouTuber Felix Kjellberg (aka PewDiePie) was on thin ice after using anti-Semitic words and Nazi propaganda in one of his tweets, and fans were outraged when he stumbled and used the N-word in one of his live streams in 2017. He immediately apologized, saying he said it “in the heat of the moment” and that it was “one of the worst things” he might have said. “I’m not going to make any excuses for why I did it because there aren’t any.”

Even though they expressly claimed that they were doing so, these YouTubers were accused of cultural appropriation when they shared images of their freshly dyed hair and dreadlocks. “2 years of Cultural Appropriating,” the caption says, meaning that they couldn’t care less about who they offended. Users retaliated on social media, arguing that black people are still stigmatized for wearing dreadlocks and accusing the pair of being racist and insensitive. They have declined to make an outright apology.
