The Smiths appear to have gotten things right when they gave Jaden space to make decisions about what he wanted for himself. However, if their children are asked, there were also times that the couple’s parenting techniques were not that great. As a matter of fact, both Jaden and Willow have suggested they felt their introduction to the spotlight had been a bit too early, perhaps before they were ready.

For instance, Willow was only ten years old when she became a household name thanks to her single “Whip My Hair,” which was released in 2010. On Red Table Talk, the singer refers to this period as a “really terrible experience.” She continues, “The values of the people that were around me should have been the opposite.”
