Burt Reynolds – Football
Burt Reynolds rose to prominence and is now considered an American cultural icon. He attended Florida State University on a football scholarship and played halfback for the team before becoming recognized. His first year went smoothly, but his sophomore season was cut short due to a knee injury. He tried to return, but his injury slowed him down, and he decided that athletics was no longer for him. That was just a side trip because he became interested in performing while participating in school plays. Reynolds starred in the box office successes “The Longest Yard” and “The Cannonball Run” after a string of smaller roles.
