Ingrid Bergman is a Swedish actress who became famous when she starred in Casablanca opposite Humphrey Bogart. However, she got her start by appearing in German and Swedish films in the mid-‘30s. She had such a wide international appeal that a biographer even said she was “arguably the most international star in the history of entertainment.” A director called Anatole Litvak said, “Through all her troubles she held to the conviction that she had been true to herself and it made her quite a person.” In 1982, the talented star passed away after fighting breast cancer.
