Hailing from South Carolina, Ava Gardner had such a thick accent that MGM execs thought that she was incomprehensible. It was a good thing that she succeeded in charming them anyway. She spent five years in the industry before finally making it big with The Killers, the movie that sent her to stardom. She was a leading actress for fifty years until her smoking habit finally caught up with her during the mid-‘80s. She was rendered paralyzed after suffering from emphysema and two strokes. In 1990, she died of pneumonia.

When she was still young, her looks were striking enough that her mother kept telling her that she should be in movies. She had a genetic mutation that gave her two rows of eyebrows that made her eyes so unique. The actress got her start as a child star and later became one of the most famous actresses in the industry. She starred in a lot of movies before choosing to focus on important things such as AIDS awareness and Jewish causes.
