George H.W. Bush commenced his term as President of the United States in 1989. He was seen in his official 1989 presidential portrait. George H.W. Bush left office in 1993 after being defeated by Bill Clinton in the 1992 national election. It looks like he gained a little more gray around the temples. Bush died in November 2018 at the age of 94.

Angela Merkel
In 2005, veteran politician Angela Merkel became German Chancellor. She saw here shortly after she came to power. Merkel, seen below in May 2019, is still leading Germany today, despite recent speculations about her health. She announced at the end of 2018 that she would not be seeking reelection in 2021.
