A Last Look
In the video, they saw what the wolf had been doing at the time. As it ran off for the woods, it took a moment to look at John. Could it have been trying to communicate its gratitude?
John did not see it pause when it happened, although the video showed him the evidence he needed. It was a good thing he ended up making the right choice. He was glad that the wolf was alive and free.
His True Feelings
True enough, John released the timber wolf from the trap. It also showed how he felt about timber wolves. It seems like he knew that they could be as annoying as the coyotes who messed around there!
Timber wolves often attack small wild animals and livestock. Sometimes, they do it to frighten and agitate pets. John knew this because he knew cases of wolves going after domestic animals. However, he respected the fact that he was in the territory of the wolf.
