Hitler was smitten with Paris when he arrived on June 23rd, 1940. After visiting many sites like the Eiffel Tower, the Paris opera, the Champs-Elysees, and the Arc de Triomphe, he was off only three hours later. While in Paris he ordered the destruction of two World War I monuments.
