There is no doubt about it, Heather Locklear and Tommy Lee were madly in love. Despite being told that she was in over her head when she married him on May 10, 1986, Locklear was smitten. In fact, Locklear was a good influence on Lee as she helped him manage some of his demons. However Locklear could only handle so much. Therefore when Lee was inattentive to her needs and supposedly was unfaithful, Locklear filed for divorce in 1993.

Regardless of their ups and downs, Heather stayed with Tommy for seven years. She really tried to make it work. Many years after their relationship ended, Locklear opened up about her reasoning for staying for so long, saying “I gave it my best shot. But when it was hurting more to be in than out, I had to do something.” She went on to say, “I was losing myself and I had to stop. I had to find myself again.”
