What’s the worst thing Tom Selleck could go? Apart from all the bad, terrible things. Shave his trademark mustache, of course! For the 1997 In & Out film, he got rid of it for the role. Since that film, he has pretty much kept it unless a script called for its removal.

For two months back in 2011, Selleck was played lead of Murray in the Broadway revival of A Thousand Clowns, Herb Gardner’s comedic play. However critics were very negative about his performance, but they did compare it unfavorably to the performance of Jason Robards, Jr., who had won awards in the 60’s for playing the same role. Gardner actually pipped up and said he really prefers Selleck’s portrayal over Robards, saying that “Selleck was the way he had always envisioned Murray.”
