Dorothy Hamill
Dorothy Hamill started skating when she was eight, which isn’t the youngest the world has seen, but by the age of twelve, she was beating other girls at competitions. Hamill was known for her moves on the rink as well as she bobbed haircut. She was nineteen years old when she wowed the world with her routine and won a gold medal in the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck, Austria. Hamill has this own very move called Hamill Camel, where the skater changes a camel spin to a sit spin. She remained one of the most famous athletes decades after her performance and made quite a lot of TV appearances over the years. In her professional career, Hamill toured with the Ice Capades from 1977 to 1984. Her performance in Romeo & Juliet On Ice won a Daytime Emmy. Hamill later revealed in January 2008 that she was undergoing treatment for breast cancer. She moved to Nantucket, Massachusetts, for the therapy and currently works with Nantucket skating club. Hamill also continues her work with several charities. She has one daughter.
Inge de Bruijn
Inge de Bruijn is a Dutch swimmer, who began swimming at age seven and participated in her first international meet at the age of twelve. De Bruijn tried several different sports before she found the love for swimming. It took her a long time before she became a champion, but hard work always pays off when she won four gold medals. She became the oldest Olympian to win gold before she retired in 2007, as she is also the oldest one to do so. Matthijs de Bruijn, a fellow Olympian who played water polo in the 2000 Games, is her brother. De Bruijn once became the face of Sapph, a Dutch lingerie company, and now lives in Eindhoven.
