Gregory Louganis started to win an Olympic silver medal in 1976. He was then 16 years old. Louganis was the first diver in history to receive a perfect score from Olympic judges for one of his dives, so it’s no surprise that Louganis has won four gold medals. He won the first two in 1984 and the rest that he got in 1988 as he swept the men’s events. An LGBT activist whose endorsements initially dropped when Louganis came out of the closet announcing that he was gay and disclosed that he had AIDS in a 1995 appearance on “Oprah.” Since then, he found acceptance and become a mentor for the U.S. diving team. Nancy Kerrigan

Nancy Kerrigan, born in Massachusetts in 1969, already showed figure skating talent at an early age. Kerrigan became controversial when rival Tonya Harding’s husband ordered someone to attack her. Despite the injury that she has, she bravely came back to win a silver medal at the 1994 Winter Olympics. Many believe that Kerrigan has a significant chance of winning the gold if the attack didn’t happen. Despite the circumstances, she continued to compete in several different ice shows.  Kerrigan also started a foundation to support and raise awareness for the visually impaired as her mother is also one of them. Kerrigan now appeared in movies and TV as guest appearances, and she is now enjoying her motherhood, raising three children, and living with her husband in Massachusetts.
