From singing in the church as a kid to featuring on local radio and TV stations, Dolly Parton knew she’d be a star one day. She just knew. At age 13(!), she recorded her first single, “Puppy Love,” on a small Louisiana label, Goldband Records. Shortly after and Dolly was appearing on country’s most coveted stage, the Grand Ole Opry. This was where she first met the legendary Johnny Cash and he was the one to encourage her to follow her instincts and carry on pursuing her dreams of becoming an incredible singer and songwriter.
