Virginia — Hampton High School
Longtime Hampton High coach Mike Smith is #3 when it comes to career wins in the nation. The Crabbers are some of the most successful programs in the US as well. As a coach, Smith is now on his 10th president. Yes, he started when Lyndon B. Johnson was in power! In the ‘90s, college recruitment for QB Ronald Curry was very heated. The two-sport star ended up committing to Virginia before switching over to North Carolina at the last minute. The school boasts of 17 state titles.
Michigan — Detroit Catholic Central High School
There are nearly half a dozen high school football teams in Michigan that can qualify for the best in the state. Catholic Central High deserves the title, however, because it won 10 state titles during the playoff era under the guidance of coach Tom Mach. It has since made it to the championship games 6 more times and took home 4 more state titles for a total of 14.
