Cherry Creek High has 9 state championships to its name. Valor Christian, which produced Christian McCaffrey, is right on its tail with 8 state titles, however. Cherry Creek took home its first 3 state titles with Fred Tesone before he had to give way to Mike Woolford, who then won 5 titles in 10 years. This includes three straight titles from 1994 to 1996.

Alaska high school football begins and finishes the season a month earlier than the other states do. It only got its own state championship game in 1990! The Cougars have since taken home 6 titles since then. They produced Mark Schlereth and Brandon Drumm as well. In only 7 seasons, ex-head coach Byron Wilson managed to snag 4 state titles. It includes 3 straight wins from 1997 to 1999!
