In the statement, they mentioned that they want to pay back the $3 million they spent renovating Frogmore Cottage. They said that they got lots of negative publicity about it as senior royals. It makes sense that they want to use their own money now that they are stepping down. The statement read, “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have shared their wish to repay Sovereign Grant expenditure for the refurbishment of Frogmore Cottage, which will remain their UK family home.”

Harry had to drop his military positions as part of their decision. The statement said, “As agreed in this new arrangement, they understand that they are required to step back from royal duties, including official military appointments.” This meant that he would no longer be the Honorary Air Commandant of RAF Honington, Captain-General of the Royal Marines, and Commodore-in-Chief of the Small Ships and Diving, Royal Naval Command. He also has to drop his Commonwealth Youth Ambassador position.
