The “blackamoor” jewelry came with a depiction of an African man. Christmas lunches are not exactly easy affairs, but we are sure that it was worse to see a royal with racist jewelry in Meghan’s company. The palace went on to release a statement that said the Princess felt “very sorry and distressed” about it, defending that it was “a gift” that had already “been worn many times before.” Yikes!

May 2018 – Breaking Wedding Traditions

In 2018, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle got married at Windsor Castle and received the titles Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The entire world watched as the lovely actress walked down the aisle without her father. He did not attend the wedding at all, as a matter of fact. Prince Charles was there to meet her at the end of the aisle, which made the entire world curious about this deviation from tradition. They also broke the norm by having the sermon and vows be presided over by a black Episcopal Church bishop. This was the first time it happened at a royal wedding, and other royals present were reported to have “bemused” looks on their faces when the ceremony was going on.
