Honorable Mention: Wyoming – 28.8% Obesity Rate
Wyoming might offer a food selection: bison burgers, chicken-fried steak, elk, lamb, and sausage gravy. However, it didn’t mean that the residents could eat whatever they wanted. There were 11,500 ranches and farms within Wyoming, and that might be why there were 28.8% obese residents. It might seem terrible at first glance, but it was lower than the national average upon realization. Wyoming fared better than the other states.
Honorable Mention: Florida – 28.4% Obesity Rate
Florida had been the receiver of several past jokes, but when it came to obesity, the state was handling the situation better than most states. It was ranked 35th out of 50 with a rate of 28.4%. The Florida Department of Health (DOH) tried to deduct the percentage by implementing programs. The goal was to promote physical activities, offer healthier food at lower prices, and encourage workplace and school initiatives.
