HERMAN WOUK, 103 YEARS OLD

A well-known author, Wouk’s books were translated into 27 languages throughout their time. His books became best-sellers, and soon enough, he began winning awards for his writing. He published both fiction and non-fiction novels, some of which became Broadway shows and even movies. In 2008, he presented the Library of Congress with his diaries, which he had been keeping track of since 1973. By 2012, he had turned in over 100 diaries! Understandably, he had a difficult time parting with his original diaries, so as a compromise, all his journals were scanned in order to let him keep the originals. He often used the diaries to reference dates and facts in his writings.
