This kind of bomb shelters filled the Tucson area. At the time these shelters were built, it wasn’t viewed as an overreaction to have one constructed in the back garden. Rather, it was seen as something you would do to look out for your loved ones. At the time, the threat of nuclear war was very real. In addition, Tucson actually had another secret.

Tucson, Arizona was once home to 18 ballistic missiles which were capable of flying across entire continents. Each one was 10 feet wide and 110 feet long. They could destroy an area of up to 900 square miles and were capable of being launched in only 58 seconds. Each missile had a 9-megaton nuclear warhead at its tip. Obviously, the project was kept secret, but the question now is whether some of the missiles were left behind.
