Every time Reba had free time and would take a break from studying, she would spend her time making music. Her life changed entirely in 1974. At the time, she got a job to sing the national anthem for the National Rodeo in Oklahoma City. This was how country music star Red Steagall discovered the extraordinary young woman. He was performing at the same venue on that day and was blown away by Reba’s singing skills. He helped her start her very own country music career in Nashville. She created a demo tape and signed a record deal with Mercury Records only a year later.
