Despite the friendliness of Diggy to anyone he encountered, Lt. Todd Hasselbach of the Waterford Township police department continued to argue that “it looks like a pit to me.” Further, he said, “I’d write a ticket” to Dan, the owner of Diggy.

Three Days
Things were escalating quickly for Dan and the Police Department. After hearing what the officer said about writing the ticket, Dan confessed to the New York Post that “[The cop] said, ‘You know, we don’t really need much more than I think he’s a pit, and that’s enough . . . You have three days to have him out of your home’.” He was given only three days left with Diggy, and then had to give him up forever!
