The head of the Waterford Police, Chief Scott Underwood, said in a statement that the only reason that they were acting on Diggy’s presence in the neighborhood was because of the multiple anonymous complaints. This is why officers were sent to Dan’s home to inspect the animal. “The dog was presented to officers and based on their observations, it was determined the dog was part pit bull/pit bull terrier,” Underwood said.

Dan had nothing negative to say about the officers that entered his house. He said that they were kind and he did not take the citation too personally. “I don’t think they have a vindictive edge against me; I think they have an ordinance and they have to enforce it,” Dan said.
