There is never a joyous occasion when a dog must be returned to the shelter. When a shelter’s conditions are ultimately met and a dog is adopted, it may be challenging to return the dog. And to think that Benji has been returned a staggering twelve times already… Because she had made earlier arrangements, three other staff were already present when Stacy and Benji arrived. They were obviously disappointed that the adoption had failed, but they were also inquisitive as to why, as this was their last opportunity to learn the truth.

The issue with adoptions is that there is typically no justification for returning them. Calling the adoption center to advise them that you wish to return the adopted puppy is all that is required. The institution is required to collect and return the dog, and they are not permitted to inquire into the circumstances. Even though Benji had been returned to the shelter eleven times for a variety of reasons, they were confident that Stacy would tell them the truth. The fact that they were unprepared to confront the truth will soon become apparent. This raises the question as to why Benjij was returned to the shelter eleven times. What might be done to assist this afflicted dog, and what was wrong with it?
