As they cleaned out the grandma’s garage, this mom and son duo saw an unexploded hand grenade. It had to be removed by the Australian military. They later learned that it did not have a fuse and emptied of explosives. The house had been owned by a 91-year-old woman married to a WW2 soldier. The grenade still had the pin with it, which is why they closed off the area and evacuated residents.

It is not every day that you learn that a secret agent used to live in your house. Who would have thought that an old “unassuming” lady had such an interesting life? A family found this out after renovating their house. They saw spy-related items that look like they came from a video game or movie! Not only was there a machine gun, but there were also classified photos of Berlin from WW2 and telegrams from the War Office and Her Majesty’s Secret Service. She was Eileen Burgoyne and died at the age of 98. She was a shadow agent throughout Africa, Spain, Gibraltar, and Germany. It was believed that she was hired and helped with the Cold War effort after WWII.
