Marcus Agrippa was a statesman, general, consul, and architect. He was born in 63 BC and became the best friend of Augustus. There are many buildings in Rome that were designed by him. He helped bring victory to Rome when he defeated Cleopatra and Mark Antony at the Battle of Actium.

In 12 BC, Marcus Agrippa passed away in Campania at the age of 51. Augustus honored his memory with a large funeral and lengthy mourning period. After his death, the emperor also took care of his orphans. Marcus Agrippa made a tomb for himself, but Augustus put him in his royal mausoleum instead.
