Whitehawk Woman

This woman lived around 5,600 years ago and passed on before the age of 25, potentially during childbirth as the remains of a fetus were found in her pelvic area. She was excavated from one of Britain’s earliest Neolithic sites- the Whitehawk Enclosure.

Ditchling Road Man

Named after the road-widening project that brought about the discovery of his remains in 1921. He is believed to be part of the first farmers from 2,400 B.C that arrived from continental Europe. The remains of this man showed malnutrition several times throughout his life, which actually stunted his growth. He died between 25 and 35 and was buried with a Beaker vessel and snail shells.
