Damian was aware that he had to be the first one to approach them as there was still a chance they would recognize the man who raised them. Despite this, 14 years apart is still a significant amount of time. Even though he was unsure if they remember him, Damian exited the boat and went into the waist-high river. He did not want to have the boat come too close since the sound of the motor might startle them. He moved forward slowly.
