Dennis Quaid
When your brother is the insane Randy Quaid you probably have an intuitive understanding of just how off the rails you can go. Dennis Quaid is one of Hollywood’s longest running stalwarts. He’s an approachable celeb with star power, talent, and charisma to boot. All of these traits must have helped lead him toward his cocaine addiction, as Quaid claims that it was the biggest mistake of his life. His addiction to cocaine started back in the 1970’s and culminated in the late 80’s. Quaid claimed to have a ‘wake up and snort’ habit that he always swore he was going to quit. Quaid eventually made it to rehab and has since reportedly kicked the habit. He calls his drug addiction a ‘huge mistake’ but equally an ‘opportunity for humility’. Quaid claimed that he had a moment of introspection where he realized that, if he didn’t quit doing coke, he would be dead within five years.
Samuel L. Jackson
Does anyone have as long and entertaining a resume as Samuel L. Jackson? From his star making performance in ‘Pulp Fiction’ all the way to his tongue in cheek appearance for ‘Snakes on a Plane’, Jackson had gotten fans at every opportunity. The prolific actor is known for his foul mouth, intense stare, and ability to make the ridiculous seem catastrophic. However it was during his years on Broadway (yes, Broadway!) that the star actor found his greatest challenges. Jackson endured a period of time where he was seriously addicted to cocaine. This addiction led Jackson to the realization that he’d have to attend rehab in order just to survive the ordeal. He ended up going to rehab after nearly dying in front of his wife. He’s been sober for over 20 years now.
