The Saluki has its roots in Egypt and costs as much as $2,500. This is one of the oldest breeds that you will find on the list. Its direct ancestors are none other than the sighthound. They were rare creatures who hunted with their eyes instead of their nose as most hunting dogs do. Sighthounds came from the Fertile Crescent, hunted alongside nomadic tribes, and had been in use during the BC era. The present-day Saluki has made a name for itself with its hunting prowess. It also has a speed of 43 miles per hour.
