South Carolina — James F. Byrnes High School
Byrnes High had been open for 20 years before its first state title in 1976. It was the first of three in the following decade. After waiting for 16 years for the next one, Byrnes took home 8 state titles from 2002 to 2011. The first four of those were spearheaded by Bobby Bentley, while the other half by Chris Miller. In 2009, Byrnes kicked off the season as the top team in the nation! The school has 11 state titles.
District of Columbia — H.D. Woodson High School
State championships do not really apply in D.C. thanks to the location, but there is topnotch football in this part of the country. H.D. Woodson knows that better than other schools in the area! Athletic director and coach Bob Headen held the position for 28 years and mentored the likes of Byron Leftwich and Orlando Brown in the past. The school as 15 DCIAA championships.
