Early June 2019 – Splitting From The Cambridges
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided to do more to distance themselves by announcing that they would part from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge when it came to their charity duties. They decided to start a charity foundation of their own, which led William and Kate to rename the original one to the Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. They said that it had to do more with the fact that William would likely take over the throne in the future, so they were more “constitutionally constrained.” Meanwhile, this was what the Palace had to say about it: “These changes are designed to best complement the work and responsibilities of Their Royal Highnesses as they prepare for their future roles, and to better align their charitable activity with their new households.”

Late June 2019 – Expensive Renovations
The couple was under fire yet again when the expected costs of the renovations came out. Some found $3 million of taxpayer’s money to be way too much. The cottage is actually five separate homes that morphed into a huge mansion instead. This happened around the same time that the Sovereign Grant, the allowance received by the monarchy from the government, was revealed to be $85 million or $25 million more than the year before that. It is not hard to see why the public was not happy about it.
